Rehabilitation game for people with cerebrovascular disease

A cerebrovascular accident (CVA) causes a malfunction of the brain, resulting in motor or language difficulties, for example. The CVA Rehabilitation Game is designed for the rehabilitation of the over-brain of people with AVH. The game has been developed in collaboration with UEF and DigiCenter NS. Rehabilitation clients and physiotherapists have been involved in designing the exercises.

The app offers the opportunity to try out different exercises, and at the same time it gamifies rehabilitation. Research has shown that gamification and self-competition increase motivation to perform exercises. The VR world offers an excellent opportunity to move exercise from the home environment to the natural environment.

In the CVA rehabilitation game, you can throw the ball towards targets that are at different distances. Aim at a flying ball or place cubes on a shelf. You can also eat or go shopping. Such activities are part of everyday hand movements and support fine motor skills.
